Jeff Dunham Live Act

Jeff Dunham has taken the world by storm, and even though ventriloquists aren't my favorite type of entertainer, I have to admit that the guy is pretty dadgum good.  I remember seeing his Spark of Insanity tour promoted everywhere I looked, and I know he performs for sold-out audiences in every city his tour takes him in North America.  He uses 7 different puppets in his live comedy shows: Walter, Achmed the Dead Terrorist, Jose Jalapeno on a Stick, Peanut, Bubba J, Sweet Daddy D and Melvin the Superhero.  Which one of Jeff Dunham's characters is your favorite?

Carol Burnett Comedy Tour

Carol Burnett is an amazing woman and entertainer who defied the odds in becoming one of America's most loved and respected performers.  I always loved The Carol Burnett Show even though I was kind of young when it was in its primetime run on syndicated television.  She has an incredible sense of humor, a beautiful smile and wonderful laugh, and her sensational career produced an amazing 22 Emmy Awards!! That's almost as many Emmy's as the New York Yankees have World Series titles!  Carol Burnett is still out there entertaining millions and she's someone I'd like to see perform live.  What's your favorite Carol Burnett moment?

Chris Rock Live Comedy

Chris Rock is probably my favorite comedian of all time; I don't know why but I find just about everything he says extremely funny.  I'm obviously not alone, because he's had tremendous success throughout his career and sells out his live comedy shows.  Chris Rock always discusses controversial topics like homosexuality, slavery, abortion, prostitution and marriage, but you really can't fault the guy because he makes some really good points; it's just that nobody else would dare SAY these thoughts out loud!  What's your favorite Chris Rock moment?

Wayne Brady Live Comedy 2009

Wayne Brady is an amazingly gifted person, and it literally only takes about 5 seconds for you to become fully aware of this if you've ever seen him live or in person.  Honestly, as I've watched his clips on Youtube.com and thought about this blog, you really begin to run out of adjectives to describe Wayne Brady.  And the crazy thing is people say Wayne Brady is better live than what you see on TV! What blows my mind is that his voice alone, or his acting alone, or his comedy alone would be considered among the best in the world in those respective categories.  But instead, he's among the best in the world in all three?!?  Can you think of an entertainer that's as or more talented than Wayne Brady?

Stephen Lynch Comedy Tour

Stephen Lynch is a really, really funny and talented entertainer, and he immediately caught my attention because I have a lot of respect for comedians who blaze their own trail rather than doing the same old routines that everyone else is doing.  Stephen Lynch is a great blend of talented musician and witty comedian, and I have him on my list of comedians that I want to see live in the near future. He seems like he'd be even funnier in person than he is on TV, and I'm very impressed with his ability to craft material from every day events that most people don't even pay attention to.  How many of you have seen Stephen Lynch live, and what was it like?

Rhys Darby Live Comedy 2009

Rhys Darby is an incredibly funny entertainer, and I had never heard of him until a few weeks ago, but I can definitely see why he's so popular in his homeland of New Zealand and around the world. Rhys Darby uses a ton of mechanical sounds and noises in his stand-up comedy routine and it's really amazing that one person can have that much variety in his act.  I'd love to have tickets a Rhys Darby live comedy show, because I'm positive that his act would be even better in person than it is on TV.  Have any of you seen Rhys Darby live?

Bill Cosby Stand-Up Comedy

Bill Cosby is without a doubt one of the most famous entertainers in the world, and he'll forever live as one of the best comedians in history.  His style is unforgettable, and Bill Cosby is still one of the most sought after comedians in North America. Like everybody else my age, I first knew Bill Cosby as "Mr. Cliff Huxtable" on The Cosby Show, which was arguably the most popular show for the entire decade of the 1980's.  I always respected Bill Cosby's live comedy for the fact that he doesn't have to use cursing and vile content to be hilarious and a world-famous entertainer. That's yet another reason why he's a living legend and one of the greatest performers in history.

Ron White Comedy Tour 2009

Ron White has more hilarious stories that any other person in the world, and the best part about the scotch-drinking, cigar-smoking comedian is that the stories are probably all true!  How else could a guy get a nickname like "Tater Salad"?!?  I first saw Ron White watching the Blue Collar Comedy Tour on DVD, after a buddy of mine suggested we rent it.  I had no interest in seeing a bunch of redneck comedians, but after about 2 minutes of Ron White's stand-up comedy I was hooked and loved every minute of the comedy show.  I can't get enough of Ron White's bitingly-sarcastic humor, and I can't wait to enjoy "Tater Salad" live.

Rita Rudner Stand-Up Comedy

Rita Rudner always grabbed my attention when I would see her on TV because of her unassuming style which immediately draws an audience in. She's a powerful performer and has been extremely successful, but she speaks in a way where you feel like you need to "lean in" so you can hear what she says.  Then BOOM!  The room has exploded with laughter as Rita Rudner points out something hilarious the audience has never noticed before.  I've never seen Rita Rudner live, but she's definitely someone I want to check out the next time I'm in Las Vegas, Nevada, if for no other reason than she's someone that my wife and I could equally enjoy together.

Sarah Silverman Stand-Up Comedy

Sarah Silverman blew me away the first time I heard her perform live.  I actually heard about her long before I actually saw her perform, and if I'm going to be honest I must say: 1) Sarah Silverman is really funny, and 2) Sarah Silverman is actually pretty hot!  Of course, I'm not sure I'd want her talking about me like she did about Jimmy Kimmel at a Pamela Anderson roast seen in the middle of this youtube clip!  But whether you think she's funny or not, you can't deny that she's instant ratings, not only because she's good looking but because have to see what the heck she's going to say next.  Do you think Sarah Silverman's comedy crosses the line?

Vicki Lawrence Comedy Tour 2009

Vicki Lawrence caught my attention immediately because she played this character with a shrill but commanding voice who looked really old except for this young and attractive face.  She always reminded me of one of the ladies on Hee-Haw, and then I find out later she had a really popular hit song and a talk show Vicki.  She's had a lot of success in a variety of areas in show business, and she's someone I'd like to see live.  I think it's great that Vicki Lawrence has enjoyed such longevity and success in an industry that eats people alive.

Paul Mooney Live Comedy

Paul Mooney is the definition of polarizing; I seriously don't think there's a person in the United States of America who can listen to this guy and not have a STRONG opinion one way or another.  I personally don't have a problem with Paul Mooney because the way I look at it, a comedian either makes a valid point or they don't.  If they make a valid point, then it might be offensive, but it doesn't make it any less true!  Paul Mooney was outspoken in his comments about comedian Michael Richards, who infamously lost his mind at the L.A. Comedy Club.  Have you seen Paul Mooney live?  And are you one of his fans or one of his detractors?

Ray Romano Comedy Tour 2009

Ray Romano has enjoyed a run in show business that saw him outperform his competition by a wide margin.  I'm not a huge television sit-com guy, but obviously the rest of the United States loved his hit show Everybody Loves Raymond since CBS paid him $40 million over two years for starring in the show! And the company might have even gotten the better end of the deal, since the show set a record when it grossed an unbelievable $3.9 billion!  I'd like to see Ray Romano live, because I think he'd be even better than he is on this youtube clip.  Was Everybody Loves Raymond one of your favorite TV shows back then?

Louis C.K. Comedy Tour

Louis C.K. kind of takes you by surprise because he's not one of those comedians who is loud and brash and demands you pay attention to him whether you want to or not.  He talks about every day events like the relationship between Louis C.K. and his 4-year old daughter.  He's also formed a lot of great partnerships with other famous comedians like Chris Rock and he's making appearances all over television talk shows and comedy specials.  He's definitely someone I'd like to check out live.  I know there's millions of people who have seen Louis C.K. live; what was your experience like?  I bet he's even funnier live than he is on TV.

Terry Fator Live Comedy

I was just like David Hasselhoff and every other person in America who thought a ventriloquist had absolutely no chance of winning America's Got Talent, and honestly I thought a ventriloquist HAD NO BUSINESS winning any kind of talent show anyway!  But the first few notes out of Terry Fator's mouth (I guess it's coming out of his mouth; he's such a good ventriloquist that you really can't tell) changed my attitude.  This dude is GOOD.  And I was happy for him not only for winning America's Got Talent but also for the HUGE contract Terry Fator signed to be the featured performer at The Mirage.  How many of you have seen Terry Fator live?

Lisa Lampanelli Comedy Tour 2009

Lisa Lampanelli is one of the most popular comedians in North America, which is really weird considering she's one of the meanest and most disparaging comics you'll ever hear!  She left me speechless the first time I heard her; I couldn't believe a woman could say things like that.  But it's not like what she's saying isn't true; Lisa Lampanelli just says things that everyone else thinks but is too scared to say!  Her fans have dubbed her the "Queen of Mean", and she'll absolutely skewer the fans in her audience, but she's perfect for celebrity roasts, like this one when she really gave it to Pamela Anderson.  Are you a fan of the "Queen of Mean"?

Lewis Black Live Comedy

Lewis Black has quickly become one of my favorite comedians, and he's definitely in my Top-5 for comedians I can't wait to see live.  I had never heard of him until a couple of weeks ago, but his unapologetically Jewish stand-up comedy is some of the best I've heard this year.  His Jewish roots doesn't mean what you might assume; if there was one group he might need to apologize to, it would be his Jewish audience!  Lewis Black has some of the funniest comments you'll ever about Jewish people, but he'll also give you his perspective on everything from homosexuals to modern American politics.  I'd describe Lewis Black as a genetic cross of Jerry Seinfeld and George Carlin, and you're in pretty good company with those two.  What's your opinion of Lewis Black?

Larry the Cable Guy Comedy Tour 2009

Larry the Cable Guy was one of the entertainers on this comedy DVD that my buddy wanted to rent from Blockbuster, and to put it mildly the Blue Collar Comedy Tour wasn't something I was interested in seeing.  But after seeing this guy named Larry the Cable Guy, I realized this thing was absolutely hilarious and I enjoyed every minute of it.  Since then, I've watched every Larry the Cable Guy clip I could and he's one of the few comedians who delivers every time.  I've never seen him, but I'd like to get Larry the Cable Guy comedy tickets at some point in the near future.  I just hope I don't wet my pants from laughin so hard!

Kathy Griffin Live Comedy

Kathy Griffin is easy to root for and easy to love.  I think the term "unassuming" is a great word to describe her; she knows she's hilarious, and we know she's hilarious, so she doesn't have to use some grandiose scheme or trick people into watching her TV show or see her live stand-up comedy.  I think one of the greatest attributes any comedian or performer can have is longevity, adaptability, and of course acclaim and appeal.  She's definitely achieved those and in facts seems to get better with age.  You can't do that unless you're good, and Kathy Griffin is really, really good.  What's your favorite Kathy Griffin moment?

Joy Behar Comedy Tour 2009

Joy Behar can be called a lot of things; heck, she has been called a lot of things!  But no one can call her enigmatic; there's very little mystery about Joy Behar's feelings on an issue.  She makes her opinions known on anything and everything from the "War On Terror" to Catholic Priests, and Joy Behar comedy tickets remain popular because you're never sure what she's going to say next!  Johnny Carson said one time that people will do whatever it takes to get recognized in show business, and my guess is that the executives at ABC Television don't care whether people love Joy Behar or not, as long as they tune in!  What about you?  Do you consider yourself a Joy Behar fan or no?

Jimmy Carr Live Comedy

Jimmy Carr is one of the funniest men on the planet; but make no mistake, you'll either think he's awesome or think he sucks.  Nobody could watch this English comedian and not see his talent, but anybody who has enjoyed Jimmy Carr tickets will tell you that this guy pulls no punches.  Watch Jimmy Carr tell a joke and at first you think "Hey, that's just wrong!", and then you start laughing because it's really funny.  I've watched a lot of his clips and it got me wondering:  are American comedians or British and European comedians funnier?

Jay Leno Comedy Tour 2009

Jay Leno deserves to be considered one of the greatest performers in entertainment history if you ask me, if for no other reason than the man was crazy enough and believed in himself enough to follow an immortal icon like Johnny Carson.  Jay Leno was a really successful stand-up comic in his own right, but c'mon; Johnny Carson won an amazing 6 Emmy Awards during his time on The Tonight Show.  But to Jay Leno's credit, he won an Emmy Award himself and still performs more than 150 live comedy events each year!  Here's a crazy factoid:  Did you know Jay Leno puts his entire paycheck from The Tonight Show in savings?  Now I have even more appreciation for the award-winning entertainer.

Howie Mandel Live Comedy

Howie Mandel is a unique comedian.  He's toned down a lot from his stand-up routine in the 1980's, but Howie Mandel is still a very popular performer and a very funny comedian.  I guess he had to tone down his act just a little bit since Howie Mandel ruptured his sinus cavity performing his famous latex glove routine??  Ouch!  The thing about Howie Mandel that impresses me the most is his longevity and versatility.  He's had a lot of success in a variety of entertainment settings and he's enjoyed this success over a really long period of time.  What's your favorite Howie Mandel moment either with his live comedy show or one of his popular television shows?

George Lopez Comedy Tour 2009

George Lopez is a comedian I always had a lot of respect for, not only because of the success he enjoyed personally but also because of the opportunities his success created for other Mexican-American entertainers.  Lopez started out by appealing to hispanic audiences, but his fan base has grown into millions or people from all walks of life.  But he's never forgotten his roots and he can still make jokes about latino culture better than anyone else on earth.  It looks like George Lopez is not going to slow down anytime soon, that's for sure!

Frankie Boyle Live Comedy

Frankie Boyle is one of the funniest comedians I've seen in a long time, even though I just found out about him last week.  That's one of the great things about live comedy; there's always new talent popping up and they're really, really good.  Take one look at Frankie Boyle in his element on the show Mock of the Week and you can see that this guy is absolutely in his element making fun of people on stage.  His Scottish accent makes him even funnier, and he's in my top 5 of comedians I want to see live.  What's the funniest thing you've heard Frankie Boyle say?

Don Rickles Comedy Tour 2009

Don Rickles is a comedian that I always enjoyed, because he's a fast-hitting equal opportunity ridiculer, and he was best known for his famous roasts of other premier superstars.  The amazing thing about the performer sarcastically known as "Mr. Warmth" is that he's still performing and cracking people up after a hall-of-fame career.  As I've gotten more familiar with his live comedy style, it becomes obvious how many modern comedians he's impacted, and you got to tip your cap to a legend who made insult comedy the famous and appreciated form of performance that it is today.  Do you have a favorite Don Rickles moment or one-liner?

David Spade Comedy Tickets

David Spade was one of the first comedians that I ever arranged my schedule to see, because his bits on NBC's Saturday Night Live in the early-to-mid-1990's were absolutely hilarious.  Me and my buddy "Biff" Bolen couldn't wait to get to school on Monday's and talk about Spade's hilarious lines during the previous Saturday night's SNL episode.  Our favorites were the receptionist who asked every person who walked through the door, "And you are.....?" or the flight attendant who sarcastically told every passenger "buh-bye".  Check out old SNL castmember Steve Martin ripping a really young David Spade during his famous "Hollywood Minute" skit.  What was your favorite David Spade SNL skit or movie?

Dave Attell Comedy Tickets

Dave Attell is really, really funny, and the great thing about comedy is there are tons of new comics cropping up all the time. Especially now with Youtube.com you can enjoy thousands of great comedians that you’ve never heard of, and if you’ve never heard Dave Attell get ready to laugh your butt off. Attell is all over the place on Comedy Central and his HBO specials are some of the best out there. Have you seen The Gong Show with Dave Attell? It’s the NC-17 version of America’s Got Talent and every other reality talent show blended together into one. Attell has some really funny stuff to say about everything from what Jagermeister commercials would never tell you to what it’s like trying to entertain our troops in Iraq when you look like the terrorists they’re trying to kill!
